Weight Loss Motivation - Happiness Now Leads To Later Good Health

Posted on July 31st, 2009.

Just like a seed, whatever you focus on, grows. A recent study demonstrates people who are satisfied and happy with their lives currently, tend to be even healthier later. Good news for preserving positive weight loss motivation when times seem rough.

It stands to reason that if you are happy and satisfied with your life now, you are more likely to be healthy in the future or so says lead author Mohammad Siahpush, Ph.D., a professor of health promotion at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. “Importantly, our results are independent of several factors that impact on health, such as smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption and age.” http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/08/080830161436.htm

Satisfaction and happiness also begets tension in the body. (You think smiling is easy on the face? Why do you think they call them laugh lines after all these years…) But it comes with a much more beneficial affect; better health. Feelings of contentment and satisfaction makes weight loss motivation easier. It won’t matter if you see the light at the end of the tunnel yet because the feeling of contentment is already in place. (Don’t believe what I write…Find out for yourself to see if it is true for you too.)

What is interesting to note, says Siahpush, is that measuring someone’s happiness now accounts

for some differences in physical health in as little as three years. Three years is a short amount of time in the frame of a whole generation. Finding the motivation to sustain your weight loss can be made easier with this simple exercise: Be content first. Weight loss motivation reaps the benefits of better health and better health is the benefit reaped of contentment first.
