Middle Age Weight Gain Predestined? Absolutely not!
It is most certainly true, that as our bodies age, our metabolic functions decrease. But we needn’t panic. Middle age weight gain can be avoided. By inducing a few simple practices, we can meet the natural decline in the body’s energy needs with out adding the excess pounds.
A study followed 192 middle-aged women for three years and tracked information on lifestyle, health and eating habits. Their analysis revealed that women who did not become more restrained with eating were 138 percent more likely to put on 6.6 pounds or more.

Hindsight is 20/20. To know now can prevent such dire predictions from materializing. Middle age weight gain in preventable. Reducing portion size is not your only option. Foods that help prevent weight gain naturally are foods low in the glycemic index. Such foods include whole grains (not refined grains) adding more vegetable into your diet, preferably raw (raw retains more fiber and provides essential living enzymes that are other wise dead when heated) and fruit.
Be sure to include some healthy cold pressed oils as well, such as flax, pumpkin, olive or mercury free fish oils in your diet. Small amounts are sufficient. Reduce processed foods (such as pasta, bread, white rice) salt intake, dairy and meats and you will see results. When you put into practice these easy to do changes, you needn’t bother counting calories.
Middle age weight gain doesn’t have to be a part of your ongoing life, despite
what the study purports. Leave all the generous overeating to the young-uns. Of course, what constitutes middle age these days is a sliding scale. The 60’s are the new 50’s and the 50’s are, well, the 40’s. So who is to say when middle age truly begins.
